The PAC Appointment Book (PACAB) application has been progressively developed since mid 2005 as a replacement to the previous paper based system. The software allows configuration and setup of Consultation, Counselling and Medical appointments on an independent basis, and each day of the week can be created with different appointment types, of varying lengths and numbers.

Reflecting the familiar appearance of the original paper 'grid' system, the main PACAB screen displays information pertaining to the client, the type of appointment, notes, and alerts staff to special circumstances via visual highlights (eg if the client is aged less than 16 years). Editing of this information is done via a user-friendly interface, and checks are performed on data before the information is allowed to be saved. Date navigation, and appointment swapping and moving, is made easy by careful user-interface design, after consultation with PAC administration staff.

A flexible, PAC-controlled security system has been implemented, allowing a fine degree control over user's rights in terms of data viewing and entry.Preparation of a 'Theatre' list is made simple, and along with an on-screen display of this information it can also be produced as a printed report, as can the appointment information for each day.

The PACAB application has improved the efficiency of reception and administration tasks relating to client and appointment book data entry, editing and reporting.
