Estonian-based non-profit organisation Pesaleidja (nest finders) required a website that allowed them to streamline the process of placing cats in new homes, and for improving administrative efficiency. Drupal was choosen as a way of facilitating interaction with Pesaleidja volunteers, and Adaptive Software solutions was engaged to develop the site.

Pesaleidja is a non-profit organisation based in the Baltic state of Estonia. This organisation has a small core of volunteer workers who dedicate themselves to rescuing animals in need (mostly cats), and placing these cats in new homes. Rescued animals are checked by a vet, and then vaccinated, desexed and ID-chipped. All funds are contributed by sponsors or workers. Pesaleidja decided they needed a web presence to improve the visibility of their work, to increase the understanding of the need for care towards animals, and to give animals in their care the best chance of finding a new home.

It was decided to use Drupal to construct the new Pesaleidja website. As well as 'core' modules, a number of standard modules (Views, CCK, Image, Imagecache for example) were employed to:

give volunteers the ability to upload and maintain animal information (including name, location, medical details and images
display animal images in formatted galleries under different categories (cats, kittens, dogs, animals at home etc)
facilitate the easy editing and updating of media, information and news pages
give Pesaleidja board members (via security granulation) the ability to maintain owner and animal contract records

Additional modules were installed and configured to provide other important functionality. For example, the integration of the Google Analytics module allows Pesaleidja to report on page hits and content popularity to sponsors and members.
